The Tampa Attractions Association (TAA), formerly the Downtown Tampa Attractions Association, was born with a strong, persistent voice hailing a thick New Orleans accent. With the sound of that voice belonging to Troy Manthey, owner of the Yacht Starship Dining Cruises, he is also the founder and President of the association that he hopes will enhance and educate the City of Tampa as a premier destination for locals and visitors.

With Tampa Bay being a bustling hub of businesses, attractions, and overall fun, the possibilities for the City and waterfront community are endless, the potential enormous. The only thing missing when Troy first moved his Yacht Starship down from Biloxi, MS, was a common connection between the livelihoods that made up the area. He started asking the concierges and hotels what there was to do in the area and consistently received the same response, “Well you can go to the beaches or drive over to Disney World in Orlando.” With that being the last kind of encouragement a new Tampa business owner wants to hear, especially one directly involved in the tourism niche, he decided to do something about it.... thus the TAA was born.

Now with a membership of tourism related businesses, a Board of lively and involved directors, a year long event schedule, and the implementation of a successful education program geared toward attraction awareness, the TAA is still working diligently to benefit our promising City of Tampa Bay.
